Andorran court archives Sílvia Charro cannabis case as time-barred

The Tribunal de Corts has definitively closed a criminal case against Sílvia Charro Butí for the alleged introduction of cannabis into Andorra for personal use, ruling the action time-barred. The court published an edict notifying the filing because Charro, whose whereabouts are unknown, could not be located for direct notification.

The case stemmed from a police control at the Spanish–Andorran border about a year ago. The court concluded the criminal action had prescribed, which led to the formal archival of the proceedings.

Charro first came to public attention in 2017 after a widely shared video about fixed-rate mortgages, filmed for an economic outlet, in which her rapid speech and uncoordinated gestures prompted many viewers to suspect she was under the influence of a substance. The clip went viral and, at the time, Charro was working as a consultant at a prominent real estate firm; the fallout from the video resulted in her immediate dismissal.

In the years since, Charro made occasional television appearances and gave interviews in which she spoke openly about personal problems, including episodes of drug use, financial difficulties and periods of emotional instability. She also pursued small entrepreneurial projects and social media initiatives that did not develop into sustained ventures.

With the court’s decision to archive the case, a new episode closes in the public trajectory of a figure who has repeatedly reappeared in the media amid controversies and irregular personal situations.
