An immersive Van Gogh exhibition, Van Gogh Alive, will open at Sala Prat del Roure in Escaldes‑Engordany on 22 January and run until 6 April. Produced by Grande Experiences, the show combines large‑scale projections, multichannel moving graphics and cinematic surround sound to present Vincent van Gogh’s life and work in an interactive, multisensory format.
The installation will occupy some 900 square metres of immersive space and include a contextual vestibule with didactic panels, while a separate area on the stage will host a virtual‑reality experience titled Finding Vincent. That VR piece, which follows Theo van Gogh’s search for his brother and reconstructs episodes from Vincent’s life, debuts in Europe after an earlier run in Melbourne; it lasts about 15 minutes and requires prior reservation.
Grande Experiences, whose productions have been shown in more than 115 cities across over 50 countries to more than 10 million visitors, also stages exhibitions on Monet, Leonardo da Vinci, Dalí and other artists. Organisers in Andorra are local promoters Francesc Camp and Gilbert Saboya; Grande’s commercial director Rob Kirk has said the company is “very happy” to bring the project to the country.
Visitors will be able to see a selection of Van Gogh’s best‑known works recreated in the immersive format, including Sunflowers and The Starry Night, and to travel through key moments of the artist’s biography. The organisers say the presentation aims to combine educational content with a strong visual and entertainment component.
The Andorran government and local authorities have supported the initiative: Minister of Tourism and Commerce Jordi Torres said the show will boost Andorra’s cultural profile, and the Comú d’Escaldes‑Engordany plans to distribute about 1,500 free tickets to parish residents. The organisers estimate an audience of 25,000–30,000 visitors for the run.
Opening hours will be Monday–Wednesday 15:00–20:00, weekends and public holidays 11:00–20:00, with extended hours on Saturdays. Two ticket options will be offered: a general entry including the interpretive area and the immersive room, and a Plus ticket that also includes the VR experience. Weekend prices are listed at €19.90 for adults and €16.90 for children aged 4–12; weekday prices are €16.90 and €14.90 respectively. Children under four enter free, and those under eight are not permitted to use the VR installation.
Tickets are expected to go on sale shortly.
