  • Aim: share knowledge, update techniques and strengthen preparedness through continued cooperation

On Thursday Andorra’s police hosted Colonel Alberto Ignacio Negueruela Cámara, head of the Guardia Civil’s Mountain Service, and Captain Fernando Rivero Díaz, an officer in that service’s Training and Doctrine area. The two commanders delivered a lecture at the police headquarters auditorium on procedures for searching missing persons in hard‑to‑access mountain and rural terrain.

The session brought together about 40 officers from several units, including Technical Intervention, Aerial Assets, Road Safety and Information Services. Presentations combined technical guidance and operational experience to deepen methodologies for high‑mountain and complex rural searches.

Organisers said the aim was to share knowledge, update techniques and incorporate new tools and criteria that can be applied in future operations. The training is intended to strengthen the preparedness and specialist skills of personnel who intervene in mountainous environments, given Andorra’s challenging orography.

The meeting forms part of ongoing cooperation between the two forces and contributes to the continued professionalisation of police actions in mountain search and rescue operations.
