The Andorra la Vella town council approved a supplementary credit of €397,500 to advance several mobility and road safety projects, chief among them a comprehensive overhaul of the pavement on Baixada del Molí.

Mayor Sergi González said the stretch is heavily used and had not seen a major intervention in more than 30 years. He described the existing pavement as narrow, uncomfortable and affected by drainage problems that have created risky situations for users.

The works will widen the pavement to two metres, upgrade the surfacing, renew underground networks and create a small square in front of the Toni Martí sports hall to better organise flows and improve user comfort.

Finance councillor Joaquim Miró said the supplement also covers improved access to the new Can Rodes car park and the creation of a pavement section on Antic Camí Ral. He added that unspent budget items were reduced to prioritise these interventions.

Public Services councillor Jordi Cabanes noted the projects were not originally scheduled for 2025 but were brought forward for safety reasons. He said the new axis between Antic Camí Ral and the Tovira roundabout will include a bike lane, wider pavements and green areas.

Cabanes later specified that the Can Rodes improvements cost roughly €100,000 and that nearly €300,000 of the supplement is earmarked for the Baixada del Molí works. He said the new square, cycle lane and planted zones will make the area safer and more suitable for the daily needs of students, families and athletes.

David Astrié, speaking for the minority group, announced his support for the project, saying the reform aligns with a city vision that prioritises walking and enhances pedestrian safety. The supplementary credit was approved unanimously.
