The La Farga de Moles customs checkpoint, between La Seu d’Urgell and Andorra, now channels around 7 million travellers a year, roughly three quarters of the Principality’s international crossings. Andorra’s international traffic reached 9.6 million in 2024, a 9% increase on the previous year. According to Diari Segre, from January — with the opening of Gibraltar’s gate — La Farga will become Spain’s only land border on the Iberian Peninsula with a country outside the EU.
Those figures were presented at a session organised by the Civil Guard of Lleida under the title "The Traveller and Customs", attended by members of the Civil Guard, customs officials and the Andorran police.
The Principality’s police force said it has begun implementing selective, time‑slot controls aimed at curbing the flow of undocumented non‑EU seasonal workers who reside in Alt Urgell and commute to Andorra for the working day. The checks typically coincide with the start and end of the working day.
