UGT-Terres de Lleida has called a strike in the passenger transport sector for Monday, 8 December, which is expected to affect lines operating in the Pyrenean comarques.

A meeting between the employers’ association and workers’ representatives held on Wednesday ended without an agreement. Isabel Rodríguez, organisation secretary of FeSMC-UGT in the Terres de Lleida, said positions remain blocked over a single issue and that a lack of willingness on the part of the employers is preventing progress toward a pact that would guarantee decent conditions. "The situation is the same as a month ago, and the employers maintain an immobile attitude in the face of a demand as fair as it is necessary," she said.

The strike will be accompanied by a demonstration from 9:00 to 12:00 in front of Lleida’s bus station. The union said it supports the mobilisations and reiterated the importance of securing fair economic compensation and equal treatment for all workers in the sector, regardless of the province where they work.

UGT-Terres de Lleida called on the employers’ association to return to the negotiating table with a genuine willingness to reach an agreement and to avoid a conflict that, the union argued, would harm both workers and the overall service.
